How do I add my own venue fee to tickets?

Add a fee you name and keep on top of the ticket price, set it once for every event, and change it for a single show.

A venue fee is a charge you add on top of the ticket price, like a facility fee or a restoration levy. You name it, you explain it to your buyers, and you keep it. Eventrise's own fee is calculated on the ticket price, not on your fee.

How do I add a fee for all my events?

Open Settings › Events. The Fees section lists the fees you charge on top of the ticket price, and they apply to every event unless you change them. Select Add Fee to make one.

  • Charge this fee. Choose For every ticket or For the whole order.

  • Name. What buyers see on their receipt, like Facility Fee.

  • What is this fee for? A plain-language reason buyers can read. Both the name and the reason are required, because buyers deserve to know what they're paying for.

  • Fee Type. Choose Amount for a flat dollar amount, or Percentage of the ticket price. A percentage fee also lets you set an optional Minimum Fee and Maximum Fee.

What do the advanced settings do?

  • Limit by ticket price. Only charge the fee on tickets within a price range you set, using From and To.

  • Limit by billing address. Only charge buyers whose billing address is in the countries, states, or provinces you pick.

  • Also charge on add-ons. Apply the fee to add-on items as well as tickets.

  • Taxable. Include the fee in the event's sales tax base.

  • Refundable. If you turn this off, buyers see that the fee is non-refundable except if the event is cancelled.

Before you save, you'll confirm that the fee is your own charge, not a tax, a government charge, or an Eventrise fee, and that its name and description are accurate.

How do I change a fee for one event?

Open the event and go to Settings › Payments & Refunds › Fees. Under Your Fees, your organization defaults apply unless you change them here. Select the three dots beside a fee to choose one of these.

  • Override amount. Charge a different amount for this event only.

  • Don't charge on this event. Turn the fee off for this event.

  • Manage organization fees. Jump back to your organization defaults.

You can also select Add Fee on this tab to add a fee that applies to this event only.

Who keeps the money?

You do. A venue fee is your income, and Eventrise doesn't take a share of it.

What happens to fees when someone gets a refund?

If you cancel the event, fees are refunded along with the ticket price. If an attendee asks for a refund, the ticket price comes back but fees are not refunded.

How is this different from the Eventrise fee?

The Eventrise platform and processing fees are separate. At the top of the same Fees tab, Who absorbs the fees? lets you choose for each event whether attendees pay the Eventrise fee at checkout or you pay it out of your ticket revenue. Your venue fee stays on top either way. For the full picture, see Understanding Eventrise fees and pricing.
