How do I preselect a promo code or tickets in embedded checkout?

Open checkout with a promo code already applied, tickets already picked, or the sale credited to one of your tracking links.

Sometimes you know what the buyer wants before they click, like a "Get 4 tickets" button for a group deal or a sponsor's page with their discount. Preselecting sets those choices up, so checkout opens ready to go.

What can I preselect?

  • A promo code. It's applied when checkout opens, and the buyer sees it applied.

  • A ticket and how many. The buyer still checks the order and selects Continue.

  • A tracking link. The sale is credited to that link on your Links page.

Seated and pay-what-you-want tickets are always left for the buyer to choose.

What's the easiest way to set it up?

Open your event and select Embed Event (or go to Marketing › Embed). On the Button tab, under When a buyer clicks, pick a promo code, a ticket, and how many. Then copy the code from the tab you need. Your choices are already in the Button code, the checkout link, the iFrame code, and the WordPress button shortcode. In Elementor, set them in the widget instead.

To credit a tracking link as well, add ref yourself, as shown below.

Can I add the choices to a link myself?

Yes. Add them to the end of your checkout address. Choices on the link work everywhere, even on a site where our script can't load.

Add this

What it does

promo-code=GROUP

Applies the promo code GROUP

ticket=TICKET_ID

Picks that ticket

qty=4

Picks 4 of that ticket

ref=TRACKING_CODE

Credits the sale to that tracking link

Start with ?, put & between each one, and leave out what you don't need.

<script src="https://checkout.eventrise.com/embed.js" async></script>

<a href="https://checkout.eventrise.com/checkout/your-event-slug?promo-code=GROUP&ticket=TICKET_ID&qty=4" data-eventrise-checkout>Get 4 tickets</a>

Can I set them on a button instead?

Yes, with the matching attributes. This works on any element, as long as our script is on the page.

<button type="button"
data-eventrise-checkout="your-event-slug"
data-eventrise-promo="GROUP"
data-eventrise-ticket="TICKET_ID"
data-eventrise-quantity="4"
data-eventrise-ref="TRACKING_CODE">Get 4 tickets</button>

Where do I find a ticket ID or tracking code?

When you pick a ticket in Embed Event, the code comes with its ID filled in. Your tracking link's code is the last part of its short link on Marketing › Links. New to tracking links? See How do I track where my ticket sales come from?

How do I do this in WordPress?

Add promo, ticket, and quantity to the Get Tickets shortcode. The inline checkout shortcode takes promo but can't pick tickets. See How do I sell tickets from my WordPress or Elementor site?
