How do promo codes work?

Create dollar-off or percentage-off promo codes, limit who can use them and when, and see what each code sold.

A promo code is the simplest way to reward early supporters, give a group a better price, or hand a friend a discount. You create the code once, choose what it applies to, and Eventrise does the math at checkout.

Where do I create a promo code?

Open Promo Codes in the main sidebar to see every code across your organization. Inside an event, open Sales › Promo Codes to see the codes for that event. Select Add Promo Code to make a new one.

What can I set on a code?

Code details. Give the code a name (this is what buyers type, like SUMMER25) and an optional description for your own records. Choose an event, or leave it open to all your events. Once you pick an event, you can also limit the code to specific tickets.

Discount. Choose Amount for dollars off or Percentage for percent off, then enter the value. Max Orders caps how many orders can use the code. Leave it blank for unlimited.

Date & Time. Set a start and end date and time if the code should only work for a window. Check End promotion when ticket sales end if you want the code to stop with ticket sales.

Available at checkout. This switch is on by default. Turn it off to pause the code without deleting it. A paused code won't apply to new orders.

When you're done, select Add Promo Code, or Save & Add Another if you're making a batch.

Can a code apply automatically to groups?

Yes. Turn on Apply automatically at a ticket minimum in the Group Discount section. Set the minimum number of tickets (it starts at 2) and choose whether the discount applies to the entire order or to each eligible ticket. When an order includes enough eligible tickets, the discount applies on its own.

Can a code unlock a hidden ticket?

It can. Turn on Hide from public for a ticket (in the ticket's advanced settings), then choose that ticket under Apply to Ticket on the code. Buyers who enter the code see the hidden ticket alongside your regular ones. See What do the advanced ticket settings do?

How do I see what a code sold?

The Promo Codes list shows each code with its discount, limit, how many times it's been used, and whether it's active. For a deeper look, open Reports, find Promo code usage under Other, and pick an event. You'll see each code with its type, usage count, and the total discount applied.

Can I use a code for a presale?

Yes. Any promo code can act as an access code for a presale. See How do I run a presale with an access code?
