You put real work into your ads and campaigns, so the sale should get the credit even when checkout sits on your own site. Here's how embedded checkout keeps track.
Will my UTM tags and ad clicks still get credit?
Yes, as long as you use our script or the WordPress plugin. Checkout picks up the campaign from the page it opens on, including UTM tags, tracking link codes, and ad click ids from Google, Meta, Microsoft, and TikTok.
The script also remembers a visitor's campaign for 30 days. Someone who lands on your homepage from an ad and buys from your events page a week later still counts. For that, load the script on every page of your site, not just the one with the button.
A plain iframe without the script doesn't carry your page's tags. The sample page has a version that passes them along.
Where do I see which campaign sold tickets?
Tracking links show their orders and revenue on Marketing › Links. See How do I track where my ticket sales come from?
Sales that came in with UTM tags but no tracking link show on your event's Overview, in the Sales by Source card.
How do I count purchases in Google Analytics or Google Ads?
If your site already runs Google Tag Manager, the script tells it when checkout opens and when someone buys. Each purchase includes the order number, the total, and the currency.
eventrise_checkout_open when checkout opens.
eventrise_purchase once per order.
In Tag Manager, add a Custom Event trigger named eventrise_purchase and use it for your conversion tags. If your site doesn't use Tag Manager, nothing is sent. To turn this off, add data-datalayer="off" to the script tag.
How does it work with cookie consent?
Out of the box, the script uses ad click ids. If your site asks visitors for consent, start the script with ad tracking off and switch it on once they accept. Until then, ad click ids aren't remembered or sent, but your UTM tags and tracking links still reach checkout.
<!-- No ads consent yet -->
<script src="https://checkout.eventrise.com/embed.js" async data-eventrise-tracking="off"></script>
<script>
// Once the visitor accepts ads cookies (from your consent banner)
window.EventriseCheckout && window.EventriseCheckout.consent({ ads: true });
</script>
If a visitor says no to analytics storage, call EventriseCheckout.consent({ analytics: false }) or add data-eventrise-remember="off" to the script tag. The script then stores nothing, and the tags on the current page still reach checkout.
On WordPress, the plugin does this for you if your consent plugin supports the WordPress Consent API.
Can my developer react to what happens in checkout?
Yes. The script tells your page when checkout opens, completes, expires, or closes, and it has a few commands to open, close, and place checkout from your own code.
<script>
document.addEventListener('eventrise:checkout-complete', function (event) {
var order = event.detail;
// order.orderId, order.reference, order.eventSlug,
// order.totalCents, order.value, order.currency
});
// Open checkout from your own code
EventriseCheckout.open({ event: 'your-event-slug', promoCode: 'GROUP', ticket: 'TICKET_ID', quantity: 4 });
</script>
Every option, with working examples, is on checkout.eventrise.com/sample.
